- Description
Pietracupa’s Taurasi is a full-bodied, structured wine from Irpinia, aged for 24 months in large oak barrels. The olfactory profile is broad and concentrated, marked by notes of macerated flowers, humus and red fruit. The palate is warm, soft but dynamic, supported by solid tannins
Ruby red, the nose expresses elegant and deep notes of cherry and small berries, dried violets and distilled medicinal herbs. In the mouth it is long, taut, supported by a nice freshness and some acidity. A beautifully crafted tannic texture, perfectly integrated on the palate, delineates its shape to an impeccable finish for persistence.
To enjoy it at its best, we recommend that you let the wine ‘breathe’ at least 1 to 2 hours before serving it
Wine of great longevity, already remarkable if drunk now, but which we suggest you let rest in the cellar to better appreciate the great qualities that will mature over time
You can let it rest in the cellar even more than 7 years
ThatIrpinia could give fresh, rich and fragrant wines was long known, but that interpretations of exceptional complexity, longevity, authentically mineral and very high quality could come out of it few suspected. The credit, to be shared with few other wineries in the area, certainly goes to Sabino Loffredo, a man with a disruptive personality, who has always sought comparison with the world’s greatest white wines. The winery’s story begins when Peppino Loffredo took over a property on the hill of Montefredano, near Avellino, in the early 1970s. A return to the countryside, his, made for the sake of producing some fiano for himself and his close friends.
