Although there have been hives in Mouchão for many decades, honey was only produced in 2011. Bees get their wild honey from local lavender, broom and eucalyptus bushes.

In the late 19th century, John Reynolds bought Herdade do Mouchão, a 900-hectare property with two small rivers. In addition to the current production of cork, the family planted vineyards there. The native vines are still used today and the grapes are harvested by hand and trampled with the feet.
