- Description
Very intense ruby red with a clear purplish sheen. The nose is broad and clean, with notes of cinnamon, mulberry and blueberries, peppers, cocoa and licorice. On the palate it is very harmonious, with a good structure. The finish is long with pleasant notes of jam.
Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, then malolactic fermentation. From 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels, half new and half used. Kept in the bottle for another six months.
The company, which bears the name of “Donna Olimpia 1898” (Olimpia Alliata, Lady of Biserno and wife of Gherardo della Gherardesca, who gave the name to the Estate in 1898 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of their wedding), has an area of about 60 hectares all located in the Doc Bolgheri and covering a strip of territory that goes from Km 167.8 of the Aurelia state road towards the interior for about 1.2 km; the morphology of the land is flat and cultivated for 45 hectares with vineyards and partly with arable land.
