This wine is the successor to Cair Crianza-and in addition to the new label, the wine also has a new style.
In the glass like black cherry with good depth of color. Intense nose of fine wood, leather, cigar box, dark chocolate and fruit. The aromas combine with sweet tannins to create a wonderfully balanced and elegant red wine. The palate is full and strong at first. Fleshy and juicy in the mouth with sweet tannins. Long and persistent finish.
A Tempranillo hard to beat in this price range!
The grapes come from 40- to 50-year-old vines and are harvested in small boxes so as not to crush the grape material. Another selection at the double sorting table. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks. This is followed by 14 months of aging in used barrels (50% French, 50% American). Finally, it was aged in the bottle for at least 12 months.

Dominio de Cair is the result of the curious personality of Rioja winemaker Juan Luis Cañas in the Burgos area of Ribera del Duero. This project was born out of his passion for the vineyard in 2008, and finally became a reality with the creation of the winery in 2012. Everything here is designed for what is really important: optimal conditions and extraordinary raw material to create wines of exceptional quality. In such a short time these wines have already won major awards and mentions, both nationally and internationally.
If there is anything that has characterized the Cañas family from the beginning, it is perfection, dynamism and curiosity. Their winemaking origins date back more than two centuries, although the first family winery was established in Rioja Alavesa in 1928. However, it was not until 1970 when Luis Cañas stamped his name on the label of his ‘harvest wine’ (vino de cosechero). From this date on, this Rioja winery gradually experienced increased marketing and began to develop what is now one of our country’s exemplary wineries. Juan Luis, his son, is currently one of the most curious and innovative winemakers. The experience and know-how of the winery team have enabled their wines to be recognized with the most prestigious national and international awards. In 2008, the new challenge of making great wines in an exceptional land, Ribera del Duero, was born. This land was visited many times by Juan Luis until he found his dream vineyards; old vines, some a hundred years old, old vines, low yielding, but generous in character to give their best in every bunch.
