- Description
This wine represents the pinnacle of production.
All Sangiovese used to produce this Riserva comes from the Fontelontano vineyard.
The name Fontelontano derives from the nearby presence of a water source where people used to fetch water in the past.
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Fontelontano is produced only in the best vintages.
Color: deep ruby red with light garnet hues
Bouquet: hints of black berries, vanilla and spices such as white pepper.
Palate: dry, enveloping, austere but velvety.
Aging method: 36 months in 5HL French oak barrels. This is followed by another 18 months of bottle aging
Aging potential: 10-25 years depending on vintage
Collemattoni is named after the farm of the same name, which over time has become the farm’s trademark. Collemattoni is located on a hill on the southern side of the municipality of Montalcino a stone’s throw from the medieval village of Sant’Angelo.
The Collemattoni farm appears to date from around the late 1600s. The earliest hints of the Bucci family, originally from the small town of Sant’Angelo in Colle, date back to the late 1800s, with Giuseppe Bucci, a ” hoekeeper” at the head of a large family.
Today the company is run by Marcello Bucci with a business philosophy that includes technology but with a style that comes from belonging to the place and with the utmost respect for the environment.
Thanks to the presence of a biomass boiler and photovoltaic panels, 80 percent of the winery’s energy needs are produced. There are also rainwater recovery pipes.
