Joe Santos and Emil Jattne launched their gin in 2010. Their stated goal was actually to build their own distillery in Brooklyn, but for financial reasons they had to postpone this project. 11 botanicals, 5 of them citrus: Eureka, Persian and Mexican lemons, kumquats, and navel oranges. Also juniper berries, lavender, cocoa beans, coriander, violet and angelica roots. Macerated in corn brandy, then distilled.

Brooklyn Gin was founded by two former employees of a large alcohol manufacturer in the United States.

The selection of botanicals-fresh fruit instead of dried fruit, small stills and hand-fermented juniper berries-results in a fresher, livelier gin.
