- Description
A high-flyer in the gin segment with 14 medals. A modern alternative for mixologists: the special design-brown paper with string and wax-makes it a fixture in every bar and home. This design dates back to the time when gin was produced very cheaply and sometimes under the worst, even hygienic , service was done at home in hiding. To generate quantity you would look for the largest pot you have in the house–which was often the bathtub. Here you put the cheaply produced alcohol and mixed it with some botanicals that you let steep for a few hours and the gin was ready. Because it had both color and residual particles from the botanicals, the bottles were wrapped in wrapping paper and the cones were sealed with wax so that they could not be opened upon purchase.
Scent of almonds, royal pastry, cloves, cinnamon and berries. On the palate, bitter aromas combine with light sweetness. Wonderful on the rocks or try it as a substitute for Maraschino in a Martinez. He also knows how to please as Ableforth’s Sloe Gin Mule. Recipe for this? Here you go: 4 cl Ableforth’s Sloe Gin 2 cl lime juice 3 Dash Angostura Bitter Complete with ginger beer Lime wedge as garnish.
Produced by traditional cold filtration with fire from discontinuous copper stills. In addition to juniper, orange peel, coriander, cloves and cardamom are used as botanicals. The result is an extraordinary gin with a fine but still fatty aroma. In the Sloe Gin bathtub, carefully hand-picked blackthorn berries are added to the original recipe, which have been specially inserted into the gin. The result is a bitter/sweet gin liqueur with a powerful aroma.
Cornelius Ampleforth experimented and distilled in his four walls for many years. In the fall of 2011 he started his own small liquor factory. One of the first products was this, which is distilled in small quantities of 30 to 60 bottles.
