The 2016 Mandolás shows a wealth of fine aromas combined with fresh natural acidity. The wine is wonderfully fresh and mineral and is ideal as an accompaniment to rich cuisine.

The Hungarian Oremus winery has been part of the Spanish Tempos Vega Sicilia wine group since 1993. It is one of the most famous wineries in the area around Tokaji, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002. Tokajer is one of the best, best known and oldest sweet wines in the world (it was first documented in writing in the 15th century)-its production from raisin grapes proves risky and expensive. When wine was introduced to European aristocratic courts in the 18th century, it was given the name “King of Wines and Wine of Kings.” The Oremus winery has an equally long tradition as that of Tokaj: the place was first mentioned in writing in 1630, as it is considered the place of origin of those noble grapes, from which the very first Tokaji Aszú was made. In the region, however, not everything revolves around sweet wines: Tokaji Furmint is a dry wine, for which grapes of the typical regional Furmint variety are used. In this case, the grapes come from vines that are on average 30 years old on the prized “Mandolás” vineyard in Oremus. The freshly pressed must is left to ferment in the cellar for eight to 12 days in new wooden barrels before the young wine is transferred to 136-liter barrels for several months to mature. Since Tokaji Furmint Mandolás was first produced in 2001, significant improvements have been made to the production process. It so happens that white wine outdoes itself with each new vintage. Tokaji Furmint Mandolás remains ready to drink until 2028 under optimal storage conditions.

Founded in 1864 and owned by the Alvarez family. 240 hectares of vineyards are planted with Tempranillo , Cabernet Sauvignon , Malbec and Merlot .

When David Alvarez purchased Vega Sicilia in 1982 , he bought the responsibility. Because with the two vintages of 1915 and 1917 the winery became world famous for its wines and has been in the top league ever since. Alvarez has not only lived up to the responsibility, but also founded the Alión winery in 1992, a further addition to Ribera del Duero . In 1997 the Vińdos Pinitia estate was added. The same philosophy as Vega Sicilia, the same know-how, a different region and a different name. From Pintia you get a lot of wine and history for little money.
