Complex aroma with spices, herbs and fruit, but also citrus fruits, spruce sprouts, cranberries and elder flowers. On the palate notes of juniper combined with aromas of pepper and citrus. Cranberries give a slightly bitter note, which makes Monkey 47 charming, complex and quirky. Pleasant and spicy sharpness in the finish.
A good third of the ingredients for this special gin come from the Black Forest and are definitely not what you would call typical gin flavors! A total of 47 hand selected ingredients give MONKEY 47 its texture. Local blueberries are used as a typical Black Forest “secret weapon”. Complexity and quality, which come fully from the masterful distillation and maturation in traditional earthenware vessels.
Since 2008 the Black Forest Distillers have been producing their gin with 47 botanicals according to the eccentric e only recipe from Commander Montgomery Collins . In his memory, the gin was named after his pet . In 2016, Pernod Ricard took over the previously independent distillery.
