The geographical location of Cortaccia in southern South Tyrol is considered optimal for the Merlot variety, which prefers warmth, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Merlot gives the wine richness and soft tannins. From Cabernet Franc comes the peppery aroma, and Cabernet Sauvignon adds blackcurrant fruit to the wine.
