Bokma Oude Genever

Bokma Oude Friesche Graangenever is a genever from the Dutch province of Friesland.

This traditional product was created in Leeuwarden as early as 1826. An old genever is not a mature genever, as the name suggests; rather, Oude Genever embodies the traditional style of distilling. For example, Oude Genever contains at least 15 percent malt wine and often more botanicals than Jonge Genever.

Malt wine is made from a mixture of wheat, rye, corn and barley and is largely responsible for the flavor profile of this specialty. In addition to juniper berries, Bokma also uses real angelica, licorice, star anise, cloves and dill. Bokma’s Oude Friesche Graangenever is overall wonderfully balanced, without losing aroma or taste.

The distillery was founded in Leeuwarden, capital of Friesland, in 1826. Thus the name Friesche was born. Young Genever, Jonge, with only a small amount of malt wine, and older: Oude, with much more malt wine, are produced.
