In the 17th cent. Francesco Redi wrote the playful poem “Bacchus in Tuscany,” a true hymn to Tuscan wine. The poem relates that the God arrives in Tuscany and elects this land as his new home because the best wine in the world is produced here. Bacchus is with his playful retinue of satyrs, nymphs and his wife Ariadne, singing and dancing to “the BOMBABABÀ,” a Tuscan dance in vogue at the time, whose “explosive” name recalls the same joie de vivre that wine gives us.

THE VINEYARD: THE FOUNDATION
OF A GREAT WINE.

Our intent is to make terroir wine. This means that we try, with our careful work, to indulge and enhance its unique characteristics, what the Latins called
Genius Loci
, the Spirit of Place. We thus express elegant, complex wines with great personality.

The main part of our vineyards is located in the best area of Bolgheri, on the first slopes of the hills. In total, the area planted with vines is about 20 ha.

The vineyards are surrounded by Mediterranean scrub forests and olive groves. They are naturally grassed and managed with the care and knowledge of the winemaker, sustainably according to the holistic principles of integrated viticulture.

At Guado al Melo we have a remarkable biodiversity of grape varieties. We wanted to retrace the entire history of our territory, from the most contemporary to the most traditional, to the oldest Mediterranean tradition, the co-planting of several varieties in a single vineyard.
