The gin that is produced today at Deux Frères was created in a small home laboratory by two brothers in downtown Zurich and at that time was distilled in a batch of only 2.5 liters and with the addition of 11 botanicals. After a year and a half, the distillation process was moved to Deux Frères in Tyrol, the recipe was changed to 25 botanicals and now includes, among other things, organic juniper berries, from whose Latin name Juniperus derives the name of this liqueur, as well as organic lemon peel, rose petals, lavender flowers and arnica root. Twenty-four of the 25 botanicals are distilled according to the London Dry Standard, giving this gin its aroma and spices, while the last of the 25 botanicals is kept secret and added in the final steeping process, now always in Zurich. By using one of these special botanicals, Deux Frères Dry Gin can change its color from a soft pink to a bright pink, depending on the blend. Therefore, it is filled by hand into brown, opaque pharmaceutical bottles, labeled and then shipped worldwide.
