Plantation Rum Isle of Fiji

Plantation Isle of Fiji is a molasses rum made from the local sugarcane crop. It is first matured in ex-bourbon barrels in Fiji for 3 years before undergoing a one-year finish in cognac barrels in France.

The result is a round, fruity and slightly spiced rum.

Plantation Isle of Fiji uses traditional production methods and local sugarcane. The rum spends its first few years in ex-bourbon barrels in Fiji before reaching the south of France to receive its second aging in French oak barrels.

After successfully taking over the traditional but aged cognac house Pierre Ferrand in 1989, Alexander Gabriel launched the gin brand Citadelle in 1996 and only a year later the rum brand Plantation. But how does a cognac producer get to rum? Alexander Gabriel decides to sell his highly prized barrels to producers who ask him. Requests continue to come in for cognac barrels used to refine rum during the aging process, especially from the Caribbean and Latin America. His interest is piqued. So he travels to the Caribbean to get an idea of exactly what happens to these barrels and is overwhelmed and fascinated by the versatility and range that this distillate offers. So he decides to turn the tables and from now on he buys barrels full of rum from the producers, which he then brought to France and then takes them under his wing and thus decides in which cognac barrels they will continue to mature and for how long. He has continued to professionalize and improve this concept, which is why he was voted Rum Blender of the Year at the 2012 Golden Rum Barrels Awards. Today, Plantation Rum offers four different lines, all of excellent quality and covering the spectrum so that bartenders and rum enthusiasts alike are happy.
