Clear, light straw yellow with fine perlage and subtle froth formation.
Wonderful scent of hay flowers, apples and a subtle note of yeast. Dry palate with crisp, fresh acidity and pleasant perlage, medium-bodied and an almost endless finish.
First fermentation in steel casks, then brief aging in oak barrels. Foaming for 7 years in bottle in contact with its own yeasts.
After the extension of “dégorgment” for another 6 months.
There are questions capable of changing the fate of people and places.
“What if we made a sparkling wine the French way?”
was one of them.
In 1955 the young and volcanic winemaker Franco Ziliani turned it over to Guido Berlucchi, a country gentleman. Berlucchi was looking for a consultant capable of improving his Pinot del Castello and found instead a partner for a taste adventure that would change the destiny of Franciacorta.
