- Description
Milmanda winery’s classic Chardonnay
Rich gold in the glass. Subtle, just a bit of wood embossing, after a while in the glass shows a nice noble bouquet with lemon, flowers, honey. Smooth and slightly creamy texture, moderate acidity, nice fruit on the tongue and long persistence. A Chardonnay with an initial understatement, then slowly but steadily growing, perfect with a good meal
Spontaneous fermentation in barriques, maturation on the lees for 12 months.
Awards: 95 points, James Suckling
Familia Torres founded its winery in Vilafranca del Penedès in 1870, 150 years ago, but its roots in Penedès’ winemaking traditions go back to the 16th century. Each generation has passed down the passion for wine culture from parents to children, a passion built on deep respect for the Earth and tradition, as well as faith in innovation. Today, the goal of the fifth generation is to produce wines from exceptional vineyards and historic estates, as well as to recover ancestral varieties as a way to adapt to climate change. Since 2008, Familia Torres has taken active measures to combat the climate emergency, implementing adaptation and mitigation measures to reduce its carbon emissions. Familia Torres has a historical connection with Penedès, Conca de Barberà, Priorat and Costers del Segre, but now its presence extends to vineyards and wineries in Spain’s main wine regions-Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Rueda and Rías Baixas-and in Chile and California. Familia Torre is a member of Primum Familiae Vini, an association representing 12 of the world’s oldest and most prestigious wine families, and is a founder of International Wineries for Climate Action, which promotes decarbonization of the wine industry.
