In 2005, bartender Ryan Magarian, along with two friends and in collaboration with House Spirits Distillery, began developing a gin that should incorporate the opinions of various other bartenders in the United States. As a result, the recipe had to be modified and adapted several times, but the extra effort should pay off. By June 2006, the time had come: The Aviation Gin was just as you wanted it. Juniper berries, cardamom, ginger, lavender, coriander, licorice root, anise seeds, dried orange peel and holly berries are used in its preparation. These ingredients are macerated in a grain distillate by master distiller Lee Medoff and then gently distilled in a traditional copper still. The name “Aviation” dates back to the gin-based Aviation Cocktail of the same name. As of 2018, actor Ryan Reynolds is the official owner of the brand, although his role in the company is more like that of a brand ambassador.
