Aperol

The orange-red aperitif is still prepared today according to the original 1919 recipe, which is obviously top secret. So much can be revealed: rhubarb, cinchona bark, gentian, bitter oranges and a variety of herbs are part of the recipe.
Brothers Silvio and Luigi Barbieri developed this aperitif in 1919; the recipe has remained unchanged ever since. The name Aperol comes from French, based on the word aperitif. Today Aperol is a registered trademark of Gruppo Campari, which markets the product worldwide.
