- Description
One of the great wines of Portugal!
The best lots of the fifth, some of them very old. Hand-harvested. Grapes are selected by hand after the harvest. Fermentation in oak fermentation tanks and small steel tanks, partly with wild yeasts. Long maceration (extraction on the must) up to 6 weeks.
Aged for 26 months in mostly new French barriques.
Without clarification (no animal protein) and without filtration.
Rich, impenetrable red Deep, multilayered nose…violets, blueberry jam, ground rock, black tea, smoke.
With each minute in the glass new nuances emerge. Extremely concentrated and full-bodied with a strong tannin load, very well balanced by lots of creamy, juicy fruit extract and good acidity. Fresh elegance with hints of mint in the infinitely long finish. A wine for meditation! Definitely decant. Durable for 15 years
- 32% Alicante Bouschet
- 18% Petit Verdot
- 50% National Touriga
Awards: 91 points Robert Parker
QUINTA DO ZAMBUJEIRO
Over 20 years full of magical moments
Founded in 1998 by Emil Strickler. 40 hectares of vineyards are planted with Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and others.
In 1999 brothers Alain and Philippe Bramaz pressed the first wine for winery owner Emil Strickler. Only 6,000 kilograms of grapes were processed in a provisionally prepared cellar. Everything was done by hand. Frequent power outages and unruly helpers did not make things any easier, and the still-sensitive baby wine had to be vigorously protected until it was finally in the safe barrels.
20 years later, history, the winery is perfectly organized, the team is highly motivated, and the working conditions are excellent. The wine is still made entirely by hand, with each grape picked by hand and rigorously sorted on conveyor belts. The work is done very close to nature in the vineyard.
