- Description
The typical freshness of the traditional Sangiovese variety combines with the exuberance of fruit characteristic of Merlot to represent the ancient territory of Montepulciano. The name of the wine celebrates Sabatino Lulli, known as “Sabazio,” a monk of the Montepulciano Abbey who first provided directions for wine production in the area in the medieval period.
The wine is aged for 4 months in large wooden barrels.
15% Merlot
85% Gentle Blackthorn
La Braccesca Estate
La Braccesca covers 508 hectares where the former farm of the Bracci counts once stood, hence the name of the estate and its coat of arms: an arm covered in armor holding a sword. Since 1990 the Marchesi Antinori have owned the estate. The total area of the vineyards is 340 hectares divided into two bodies: the first, 366 hectares of which 237 are planted in vineyards is located on the border between the municipalities of Montepulciano and Cortona. The other plot, 142 hectares of which 103 are vineyards, stretches all the way to Montepulciano between three of the most renowned subzones for the production of great red wines: Cervognano, Santa Pia and Gracciano.
