- Description
“Voglar” is the ancient name of the area where the winery’s vineyards are located. The term comes from the Trentino dialect expression “fogolar,” meaning hearth.
Originally the vineyards were planted to Schiava, a local grape variety, which was completely replaced by Sauvignon blanc between 1988 and 1991.
Careful studies and research on this variety have led to the conclusion that Voglar’s location, altitude and limestone nature provide a favorable premise for the production of an excellent white wine.
The relatively high hill favors complete physiological ripening of the grapes without loss of acidity and aromas. The goal is to obtain a wine with complex tropical fruit aromas that express the varietal of origin while avoiding vegetable and immature hints; slightly acidic, with backbone, body and structure that can hold up to a fair amount of bottle aging.
The Peter Dipoli farm was established in 1987in the municipality of Cortaccia. After the complete reconversion of the vineyards with the Sauvignon Blanc variety, the first production of 1,637 bottles of Voglar occurred in 1990. Today the company has 6 hectares, and annual production is around 45,000 bottles. We believe that each grape variety should be placed in the habitat that is most congenial to it. The producer is left with the task of transforming the grapes, as the vineyards have delivered them to him, into a product true to the soil, the environment and the vintage
