- Description
The Châteauneuf-du-Pape “Télégramme” Rouge Vieux Télégraphe is a fruitier, more immediate version for drinking young. The clear predominance of grenache (80%) contributes to a softer, less tannic and more ready wine. The vines from which it is produced are about 30 years old. Harvest is by hand and fermentation is done in stainless steel tanks for a period of about 25 days with indigenous yeasts. The wine matures for 10 months in cement tanks and another 6 months in 50/70hl barrels. It is finally bottled with a light filtration.
Intense ruby red color. Aromas of red fruits, cherries, raspberries and spicy nuances. The palate is broad and enveloping.
Grapevine:
80% Grenache
10% Syrah
6% Mourvèdre
4% Cinsault
Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe has been run by the Brunier family for six generations, exactly since 1891. The vineyard, with an average age of 60 years, is located on the famous Crau plateau, the Mecca of viticulture in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This terroir distinguishes the wines with a very distinctive minerality, as if they had been filtered through the thick layer of rolled pebbles left in place when the Alpine glaciers melted, long before the formation of the Rhone Valley.
