SCHIOPPETTINO Trevenezie I.G.P. comes in a dark red guise that tints the glass, letting thick, substantial bows slip through.
Shaking it in the glass, the nose opens with elegantly full and decisive aromas ranging from dried figs to nuts, balsamic wood aromas with slight undertones of small black berries.
In the mouth it is ample and decisive: it envelops the palate with a velvety touch while showing itself compact and vigorous in its noble component of well-amalgamated tannins, thus re-proposing in an orderly succession the entire olfactory spectrum.
Important, meditation red to accompany strong dishes: excellent with roasts, fatty red meats, feathered game, flavorful cheeses.
Schioppettino is one of the sure indigenous grape varieties of the Colli Orientali del Friuli. After undergoing extreme thinning on the vine in June, the grapes are harvested strictly by hand and placed in small crates for light drying. This is followed by destemming and soft crushing. The resulting must is placed to ferment with indigenous yeasts, remaining in contact with the skins for about 20 days.
During this phase, pumping over is frequent to facilitate the passage of color and the noble components characteristic of an important red from the skins to the fermenting must. Given course to racking, the wine will remain to rest in 5-hl French oak tonneaux for about two years. It will be placed for consumer judgment after a final fair period of rest and bottle aging.
Three generations, one story.
In the 1960s, grandfather Min and then father Livio began a story that continues to this day in Massimo and Marco Zorzettig’s Tunella, custodians, along with mother Gabriella of more than peritivo or paired with mushroom or fish dishes; also ideal with shellfish, crustaceans and baked fish.Fifty years of family history. In today’s Tunella, current events and memory, the desire to experiment and the highest traditions of the Colli Orientali del Friuli coexist: a present that day after day builds its future.
Although Tunella has a well-established history, we have never abandoned the maniacal attention that distinguishes every small winemaker when working in his vineyard. It is no coincidence that our philosophy is “do little to do better”-this is the only way we can come up with something qualitatively excellent and at the same time absolutely unique and personal.
