The Ruinart champagne house owns about 14 hectares of its own vineyards. With annual sales of 150,000 bottles, it is one of the smaller houses.
100% Chardonnay from the Côtes des Blancs and Montagne de Reims is kept on the lees for 6 years.
Straw yellow color with lively perlage. On the nose there are aromas of ripe apples and pears as well as subtle notes of brioche. The mousse is fine-grained and long-lasting.
Dom Thierry Ruinart, a contemporary of Louis XIV, was a hard-working Benedictine, brilliant theologian and historian. At 23 he was called to an abbey near Paris. There at court he met the new wine with pearls, which was much appreciated by young nobles. His grandson founded Ruinart in 1729.
