- Description
Its history is an ancient one, dating back to 1347, mentioned in the annals of the Municipality of Udine, where it is described, along with Ribolla Gialla, among the most valuable and highest-cost grape varieties. Rather than a grape variety, one should speak of a family of grape varieties, the Refoschi. At Castello di Buttrio, Refosco is the “red stalk” variety, named for the distinctive stalk (the “twig” that joins the stalk of the bunch to the plant) with an intense purple-red coloration. Palpitating with fruit, it coils into dark spirals of dense body and succulent layers of spice and earth. Fleshy presence brightened by vivid mineral notes.
The Felluga family has been making Wine in the heart of the Friuli Colli Orientali for five generations, in 1994 Marco Felluga became the owner of Buttrio Castle, his daughter Alessandra Felluga initiated a long process of land expansion, with the renovation of historic vineyards. The farm was founded on excellence in the deepest respect for the land and its authenticity.
Our wine is a story about the land, about stories and emotions, about the places and the men who inhabited them.
