The color is a ruby red of medium intensity. The nose is beautifully fruity with hints of black berry fruit where memories of blackberry and blueberry stand out. The palate is enveloping with a nice softness well balanced by a good acid vein of Sangiovese, well-integrated and silky tannins. Ripe fruit notes and slight hints of wet earth return in the mouth.

Monterinaldi is located in an area inhabited since prehistoric times and permanently since Etruscan times. The name of the company comes from the ancient castle, erected around the year 1000. The construction of the castle dates back to a certain Gottifredo or Gottizio, a nobleman of Lombard lineage and Lord of Monterinaldi. The counts of Monterinaldi later dominated the entire area that today forms the municipality of Radda in Chianti.
In medieval times, during the wars between Guelphs and Ghibellines, the fortifications were demolished. In 1686 the castle was purchased by the Geppi family of the Florentine aristocracy. Due to further destruction during World War II only a small part of the castle remained intact. Some houses in the hamlet are now part of the wine estate. Villa La Pesanella itself was built at the end of the past century in pure 18th-century style, while the winery dates back to the 1970s.
There are records of wine production as early as around 1910, but vine cultivation using modern methods and on a larger scale began only when Florentine Remo Ciampi, father of the current administrator, took possession of the land.
Agricola Monterinaldi is considered one of the leading estates in Chianti Classico, both in terms of overall production and the quality of its wines.
