Lagrein DOC Alto Adige

Lagrein is the oldest grape variety in Alto Adige and is genetically similar to Syrah. This heat-preferring variety benefits from the warm climate in vineyards in southern South Tyrol.

Thanks to painstaking care in the vineyards of Cortaccia (limited harvests) and in the winery (controlled fermentation, aging in large oak barrels), a very dark and powerful red wine is born from select batches of Lagrein. On the palate, fine-grained, juicy tannins give the wine a solid profile without being raw. The fleshy fruit of Lagrein is accompanied by vigorous aromatic tones that create a fiery finish. Youthful freshness leaves a long, juicy aftertaste.

Kurtatsch Winery: “Our greatest capital is our vineyards. Our steeply sloping vineyards between 220 and 900 meters above sea level are unique in Europe and set the tone for our wines: very warm positions that promote early ripening for red wines and ventilated elevations for whites.”
