- Description
Lagar da Condesa glows a pale straw yellow in the glass. Very floral notes on the nose with hints of apple, pear, compote and lime. Very elegant on the palate with mineral hints and typical savoriness. Good body, pleasant freshness and a very long finish.
Some of the wine was fermented in 500- and 600-liter oak barrels, and the rest remained on the lees for about four months.
It is free of animal products and certified vegan.
Lagar da Condesa was founded by the Gil family in 2013. Located in the Val do Salnés area of Rías Baixas, the coolest and wettest area in the region with the most Atlantic coastline and the birthplace of Albariño. Soils are dominated by granite; rivers and tributaries have left alluvial deposits of clay, silt, sand and gravel; also high levels of minerality-all ideal conditions for Albariño. Known as “Green Spain,” the region has moderate year-round temperatures, oceanic fogs and up to 3 times the average rainfall of the rest of the country. Balanced by 2,200 hours of sunshine ensures that Albariño fully ripens with good natural acidity and flavor profile.
The winery is a traditional “Pazo” surrounded by its vineyards all raised on pergolas (or “parral”) about 1.5 meters above the ground to ensure excellent ventilation to counteract the humid climate. Harvesting is done by hand in 15 kg (33 lb.) baskets.
