Personality. This is the first wine to bear the signature of the author, Maurizio Zanella, on the label to proudly celebrate the passion of the man who founded Ca’ del Bosco. A wine that encapsulates the realization of the perfect synthesis between the territory and its way of being. A great wine that is definitely among the jewels that contributed to the “Italian wine renaissance.” Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, selected from the winery’s best vineyards, expertly vinified and aged in small oak barrels ensure a wine that is both granitic, powerful and harmonious, capable of maturing for decades.

WINEMAKING
Maurizio Zanella is made by separately vinifying Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes from Ca’ del Bosco’s best vineyards. The grapes, hand-picked in small boxes, are promptly graded and cooled. Each cluster is selected by
eyes and skilled hands, and then benefit from exclusive “berry spa,” a special system of washing and hydromassage of the grapes through three soaking tubs and a drying system. Next, each cluster is transported over the maceration vat. With destemming, the grapes fall into the vat, from above, by gravity. This eliminates traditional pumping systems, which are the cause of broken skins and unwanted herbaceous notes. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration were conducted for an average of 21 days, carefully managing temperature and punching down. Pumpovers were carried out daily, using a pair of elevating tanks into which the wine, tapped from the bottom of the vat, is transferred by gravity. The wine, carried aloft from the flying tanks, is poured into the vat, at high flow rate, to submerge the “cap.” Nothing could be more natural and effective for gently extracting color and tannins. Upon racking, the wines, still warm, are racked into small oak barrels, 70% new, made from selected woods, aged for at least 3 years. Only after malolactic fermentation, in the middle of winter, are the different batches racked and blended. Thus was born the Maurizio Zanella, which continues its aging in wood for about 13 months. Then the different batches are assembled and the wine is bottled by gravity, naturally. Thanks to innovative filling systems, the wine does not undergo oxidative shock, whisking and further addition of sulfites. Its integrity and wholesomeness are guaranteed. Finally, each packaged bottle is uniquely marked to ensure traceability.
