Weinlaubenhof Kracher is located in the “Seewinkel” in Austria’s Burgenland. Botrytis cinerea, the basis for fantastic sweet wines such as Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslesen, is created where evaporation on the lake, evening mist, and warm Pannonian climate constantly change with warm, humid weather.
From the grape varieties Welschriesling, Chardonnay, Traminer, Scheurebe, Muskat-Ottonel and now and then Zweigelt, Alois Kracher has created 10 to 15 different Trockenbeerenauslese in two different styles.
“Between the Lakes” is the name for those wines that are aged in large wooden barrels or stainless steel tanks and show the classic style of the region. Wines from the “Nouvelle Vague” line are vinified in new barrels. They are characterized by depth, flavor and sustainability.
Gerhard Kracher now runs the company with the same dedication and dynamism as his father.
The range of what is undoubtedly Austria’s best-known winery includes, in addition to the world-famous Trockenbeerenauslese, Beerenauslese, Auslese, ice wine and small quantities of dry white and red wine.
